Dr. Danie Breedt
Managing Director - Netcare Rehabilitation Hospital
Dr. Danie Breedt is one of the directors of Charis Psychological Services. His passion is to assist people to reach their full potential. He specialises in group therapy, couples therapy and individuals with physical disabilities. Therapeutically he works from an Integrative Interactional approach that emphasises relationships as a core component of psychological well-being. He further divides his time between training, supervision and coordinating the Charis corporate program. He is also a columnist for Rolling Inspiration magazine where he writes about sexual health for spinal cord injured patients. He has been a guest speaker on numerous occasions to discuss the topic of sexuality and mental health.

Dr. Estie Janse van Rensburg
Clinical Director
After qualifying as a psychologist in 2000 Dr. Estie Janse van Rensburg moved to the UK where she
specialised in adult mental health and completed her doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Ten
years later she returned to South Africa where she held a teaching position at The University of
Pretoria and worked in private practice. After suffering a spinal cord injury Estie founded Charis
Psychological Services. As one of the directors of Charis, she is involved in the management and
running of the group practice. Estie also provides therapy to patients at various hospitals using an
integrated approach with elements of person-centred therapy, CBT & EMDR. She facilitates
emotional well-being groups for health care workers and is involved with supervision and training for
psychologists and students.

Nkcubeko Briann Magwaza
Regional Executive | Head of Training & Development | Counselling Psychologist - Mediclinic Muelmed
After his internship at the University of Johannesburg, Briann began working in academia with secondary school students in the Eastern Cape and later in Gauteng. He is currently working in Rehabilitation Psychology assisting patients with the development of a sense of self following injury as well as sexology. He is passionate about facilitating personal growth and development, through building a capacity for personal responsibility and social interest. On a personal note, he is the son of a mother who endured consistent back problems and going through the rehabilitation process, he grew up in boarding schools in the Eastern Cape and KZN, affording him interaction with various cultural backgrounds. He has developed a keen curiosity in other individual’s stories and experiences and the meaning they have created from these.

Robyn Weimar
Regional Executive | Counselling Psychologist - Clayton House & Netcare Rehabilitation Hospital & Neuropsychology
Robyn is a Counselling Psychologist and Executive Regional Manager specialising in trauma-focused care within hospital and rehabilitation settings. Her clinical work includes trauma, adjustment, depression, anxiety, and pain management, with a particular focus on patients with work-related injuries, spinal cord injuries, TBI, CVA, and chronic medical conditions. Since 2020, she has held leadership responsibility across multiple rehabilitation facilities and an acute hospital in the Johannesburg region, while also supervising interns and psychologists. She is passionate about meaning-making in the aftermath of trauma and currently focuses on acute psychological care in hospital settings.

Abongile Ncapayi
Counselling Psychologist - Nurture Aurora
Abongile is a Counselling Psychologist whose main goal is to assist individuals by being there to listen and to help them find solutions to obstacles that they may come across. She has special interests in psychotherapy and psychometric assessments. These roles included providing professional support to individuals having difficulty navigating life stressors, relationship difficulties, adjustment, anxiety & depression, and grief & bereavement. She is currently working in a physical rehabilitation setting, providing psychotherapeutic interventions to assist patients with adjustments to disabling injuries or conditions.

Melisa Du Piesanie
Counselling Psychologist - Intercare Newlands and Nurture Newlands
Melisa is a Counselling Psychologist whose journey into mental health began many years ago through her involvement in a research centre focused on mindfulness and behavioural modification grounded in ancient wisdom traditions. These formative experiences shaped her enduring commitment to providing accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based care, values that continue to guide her work today. She believes that no one should have to face life’s difficulties alone, and that our greatest strengths can emerge during our most challenging moments. Central to her practice is the creation of a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space that fosters exploration, healing, and personal growth. In addition to her interest in psychological strengths and well-being across the lifespan, Melisa has a strong and comprehensive background in child and adolescent psychology, with experience in consultation-liaison psychology. She currently applies this expertise within a hospital setting, where she conducts assessment and intervention for a range of mental health challenges, including adjustment difficulties, anxiety disorders, depression, grief, stress and various forms of trauma.
