Topic: Countertransference and Transference in the Virtual Psychotherapy Space: Unpacking the advantages and disadvantages
Summary: The focus of this talk will be the exploration of transference and countertransference as a means to sustain the authentic relationship within the therapeutic space, particularly the virtual therapy space. The outbreak of Covid 19 has brought higher demand for containment and holding of people’s emotional processes, and for some, virtual therapy has become the most viable channel to receive such holding and containment. We will therefore take a critical look at how working with transference and countertransference can influence psychological transformation within the virtual therapy space.
